Onto Burscough again.

Saturday 9th July 2022

Having moored at the same spot in Lydiate, that we used on our way in to Liverpool, we had a very quiet night, it was actually dark! We awoke to blue skies but the clouds were being driven across the sky by a strong cold wind. The long range forecasts that we consulted before the start of this trip did not predict anything like this – at least we’ve stayed mostly dry.

They day did improve – sunshine wise! We arrived at Burscough to find no boats on our last mooring spot to the east of the bridge but Graham continued on and poked Jannock’s bows through to check if there were any available beyond – not a chance!

He then took the decision to reverse all the way back past the long term moorings to ie up on the 14 day moorings beyond. In yachting terms we believe it is called tacking …… in reverse. Just as were getting to a suitable size spot on the bank a cruiser came past and didn’t bother to slow down at all or consider how much room we needed for our manoeuvre – thanks Pal.

Whilst pegging in the back of the boat. Graham became surrounded by a swarm of angry bee/wasp things. We had chosen to moor next to their bankside nest and they didn’t like being disturbed by the banging. We pulled \Jannock back a bit away from the nest and re-pegged. As this was happening the local trip boat hammered past without slowing – a considerate lot around here.
