A week in Liverpool – Day5

Wednesday 6th July 2022

We have been ‘out of touch’ for a week now, taking little notice of what is going on in the world – if only to save our sanity. When we left we had a dysfunctional government – now it seems we have a rapidly shrinking Gov’t consisting of mostly Boris!

Today’s weather suited our plan to sail on “the ferry ‘cross the Mersey” although Brenda was worried about the strength of the wind – so she had her sea-bands in place when we boarded, accompanied by a boat neighbour Peter who helped us use up our excess ticket vouchers – it’s a long story that we won’t bother you with now.

The café at the ferry terminal has the worst shaped saucers we’ve ever come across and Peter managed to spill his coffee over himself and the floor whilst placing his cup back onto one. By trial and error we found that they worked better when used upside down.

Across to Birkenhead and we got off the ferry for a mooch round to find lunch. Not in our original plan but missing the 11 o’clock ferry meant we had to catch the 12 o’clock instead. We found a lovely little café near the port which had a tram parked outside. Turned out that the museum staff were there having their lunch and all got on the tram back to work once lunch was finished – that’s just showing off!

Scouse was on the menu at a reasonable rather than tourist price; Brenda will have that then – turned out it was the only item on the menu that was ‘off’. After a good lunch, we returned on the ferry to Liverpool. After a meander through the shops we were glad to get back to the boat for a cuppa. And best of all – no seasickness!
