Dunham Massey Hall

Saturday 1st June 2019VillageGreen

Today was a day off from boating with all day dedicated to visiting Dunham Massey Hall. Pain au chocolat for breakfast and then we set off through the Bollington underbridge to walk the short distance over the river to the deer park for a visit to the hall and grounds which we enjoyed. On our way we passed Bollington village green – more a triangle at a road junction.

BeeOnRhodThere was a ‘Teddy Bears picnic’ event in the hall gardens with story telling and a brass band playing swinging hits for 4 year olds – not a patch on Herb Alpert though. It seemed to be ‘the’ place to celebrate your childs birthday event; everyone having fun with no need to pick up the crumbs or spills. I loved the DeerRhododendrons because we dont get many of them at home.

Lunch was jam scones and a cuppa taken in the restaurant – better value than a lot of NT places we’ve visited, which left room for a mid afternoon icecream. If it was your phone that we found near the mill building then Graham handed it in to reception in the visitor centre.

DunhamMasseyMillAs we left the gardens there was a bucket (not bouquet) of tulip bulbs that you could help yourself to. Hopefully we’ll have white and purple tulips in our  garden next year. Having visited the deer park, house, gardens and mill we set off back to Jannock via the Swan with Two Nicks pub in Bollington. They seem to do a good selection of beers and the food being served looked good as well.

Supper back on Jannock tonight will have ‘some’ nutritional value – I promise ;^0
