Llangollen trip Day#1

Saturday 13th May 2023

The Coronation of King C3 went well and we had sunshine for our street party the day after, then visited the bright lights of London (Hamilton was brilliant and the Malay food in Chinatown a treat) so now it’s time to cruise.

The weather in Liverpool for the Eurovision song contest was bright and sunny but we set off in grey gloom and chill wind for mid-May. Destination Llangollen. As we left the moorings just after 2pm, the Barby Alpacas were sans long coats.

An un-eventful day, but the sun poked through the clouds occasionally during the afternoon and stayed for the evening. We had a very fast transit of Hillmorton locks due to three vo-lockies being on duty and no other boats either ascending or descending at the same time.

On through Rugby dodging the on-coming hire boats through the chicane near Tescos, through Newbold tunnel and past our old mooring at Brinklow until we moored at 6pm for the night at Hungerfield, just before All Oaks Wood starts.

After dinner, we made up the beds and stowed all our clothes for this long trip. As the sun went down we were treated to a lovely sunset so Brenda went out and took some photos whilst I tried to get the new 3 SIM to work in the MiFi unit.
